New Series: Fabulous Fishies

This summer, I had a whim to create small handmade panels/frames for a new series I’ve been thinking about doing. This series is all about fish. Yes, fish.

At home, I am surrounded by all things aquatic. My husband has 6 aquariums (our home is aptly named “the zoo”), housing both salt and fresh water fish. Admittedly I knew the basics about fish, had goldfish growing up and learned the brevity of life early on by winning them via “toss the ball in the fishbowl” at our local church carnival.

But, meeting my husband really opened my eyes to the beauty and diversity in this vast waterous kingdom. It’s actually quite surprising I haven’t painted more fish, given the constant source of inspiration around me. I really have no reason as to why I hadn’t…but this summer..I changed that. Cue, new mini oil painting series “Fabulous Fishies”.

I’ve been learning a lot while painting these small little portraits, and hope through this I become a more efficient painter. I’m a fiddler by nature in my work and sometimes spend hours longer than I probably need to in order to “fine tune” the piece I’m working on. Hopefully, I come out of that shell soon :)

Here is one of my latest pieces in the series, which I will be adding to my shop soon.

Take good care and thank you for stopping by!

Website Updates and Rebranding!

Greetings!!! I hope you are all doing well out there admist the very interesting year that is 2020. In my little orbit of the world, I’ve been working from home, raising a puppy (a lemon beagle named lulu) and working on a lot of commissions!

I’ve recently taken time to update the work on my site here, to share with you some of the latest pieces I’ve done that best represent each medium category that I work in. Its been so fun going through all of the paintings I’ve completed of so many precious fur babies.

I also had the inspiration to update my logo/branding. I worked with a wonderful team in the netherlands to create the black and white logo you see on my website now and I LOVE it! Its my puppy Lulu, and if you look to the left and right of her you will see a pencil and a paintbrush <3 This honestly captures me, my heart and my loves perfectly. Its taken me a while to update all of my business assets with this new logo, my business cards, thank you cards and stickers..but its honestly been so exciting to do it!

On another note, I’m starting to think about the holidays already (and opening commissions and adding ornaments to my shop as there are no markets this year). Its crazy, right? Fall is almost here and I just…I can’t think about what comes after that. Being in a northern state you carry with you the knowledge that winter is a season that lasts 6 months out of the year. That, my friends, is something I am definitely not ready for. I will say however that I am grateful these cool months accommodate the holiday season. As someone who LOVES festivities and all that they entail, I try to hold on to that goodness and it does make the cold all the more tolerable. I cant wait to share some new goodies I have in store (quite literally :))/

Hoping you are all well. ~ V

My new Logo!

My new Logo!

My shop is now open!!!!

I am so happy to announce that my shop is finally open! I just listed an assortment of stickers that can be purchased and will be adding original drawings, prints and more, very soon!!!!

The stickers that I have listed are all printed using the services of Sticker Mule, so you can be rest assured that they are the highest quality vinyl you can get ;) Waterproof, lightfast and brilliantly saturated in color, these stickers were one of my best sellers at my first market back in December.

This was my first foray into digital art (all stickers were drawn using Procreate on my iPad Pro), if you have any recommendations of cats//dogs to include in this collection..please let me know!!!

I’m slowing building out my website (I always tend to focus more on social media, particularly Instagram), but know how important a robust home space is. Thank you for your patience as I continue to build out my site!

Hoping you are all well and sending so much love during this very prolific time in history. Stay safe, stay healthy <3

xo,

V

My First Market!

I did it! This was a long time coming and I’m wondering why on earth I waited so long to do this! I finally showed/sold my work in a Market. This last December I was happy to be a part of The Good Day Market pioneered by Sarah Arts of Good Day Shop here in Madison, wi.

I brought together a collection of original paintings//illustrations//ornaments & stickers, all featuring our finely furred friends!!!!

So many people came out to support me (and thank you to my darling husband for helping me setup) and the response to my work was truly heartwarming.

I’m hoping to participate in more shows in the coming year, all the while working on some new and exciting pieces!

Sending much love,

Vicki
