Hello again! It’s been a while………..
I’d like to kick off this post with some exciting news, I have another piece accepted into the Richeson75 Small Works Juried Exhibition! Its the second year in a row, and I am beyond honored to have been selected again for this truly amazing show. Proud to be featured alongside so many talented artists from across the world.
Here is the piece accepted into this years show:
This bird series has been a really fun exploration of not only medium, but technique. I first started painting on Duralar last year, and love its smooth surface and translucent qualities which play well with mixed media. Its archival, easy to remove paint off of with gamsol and honestly one of my favorite surfaces to paint on!
This least me to my next piece of news, I have a show coming up in September at the SMAC (Southern Missouri Arts Connection in Branson. This is my first Solo show since College (way, way, way back when….), and I’m working feverishly to create pieces to fill the space and really make this exhibition special! The title of my show is “Of Wind and Sea” which will be a collection of bird portraits captured in various mediums, as well as some hand embroidered pieces that will represent the waters. The objective is to capture both the tangible (above water) and seemingly intangible (under the water) through this show.
Lastly, I’ve done a little site refresh! I’ve updated commission prices (I haven’t updated them for years), added fresh artwork from the recent year, and making my “about” page current with both the workshops and exhibitions I’ve participated in over the last year or so.
If you’d like to follow along to see my latest works in progress, Instagram is the way to go! As you can see I am less than acceptibly absent here with blog writing, so that’s the place to follow me in real time <3
Here’s to a New Year full of new and exciting opportunities. To creating more art, pushing myself beyond my comfort zone and leaving behind the things that tax my energy in ways that are not worthy of it. xo, Vicki
